5 x 20 minutes for 4Learning
First broadcast on Channel 4 in 2001, this series for 11-14
year olds examines citizenship and human rights using a combination
of drama, documentary and history. The dramas feature a group
of five teenage friends who together confront issues such as
homelessness, freedom of expression, leadership, bullying and
discrimination. Real children get to have their own say on racism,
environmentalism, representation, disability and social responsibilty
in the documentary strand. Each programme is tied together by
a celebrity presenter who relates the programme's theme to an
episode in British history.
